Lakemuir house. -Maria

I remember the big sunflowers, the ducks, the chickens, and the dogs that I was afraid of at the Lakemuir house. Dad really did a lot to that backyard. There was a chicken coop and I remember the rooster flying on top of the fence. We were probably the crazy neighbors, but I don't remember anyone saying anything. I just know that the rooster couldn't stay because it was too loud. I think Martin and Joe used to spray the ducks with a hose. I remember getting paid 10 cents to do the dishes back then. I think I did a lot of chores and made a list. I remember Dad, Martin, and Joe sitting and watching TV while I picked up little pieces of garbage off of the carpet. What did the boys have to do?

  1. Ha. I didn’t know that! I’ve seen pictures of the huge sunflowers but didn’t know about the animals. I was too young to remember anything about living at the Lakemuir house but I do remember walking from Lakewood and walking to that house after school to be babysat by Cau Ban, Mo Mai, and Bac Chuong (?). But how could that be if they should be working at that time? And I swear one of their housemates let me take a puff of his cigarette when I was maybe 5 years old.
